PowerPoint-less, Open-Format Chromatography Sessions

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of conducting seemingly hundreds of chromatography training sessions and seminars. These experiences have ranged widely in topics and settings, often occurring at customer sites. But among all these sessions, one stands out in my memory as truly unique and immensely rewarding.

Unlike the usual pre-determined seminars, where the agenda and content are shaped by the presenter’s perspective, this particular session was refreshingly different. It began with a simple premise: I would sign a nondisclosure agreement and engage in an open discussion with a group of project managers, technical advisors, and varied scientists about their analytical development challenges—no PowerPoint, no pre-set topics, just pure dialogue.

Initially, the session started slowly, as expected. But once the first few questions were asked and answers were shared, the conversation gained momentum. What was planned as a one-hour session stretched to nearly five hours, driven by the sheer enthusiasm and engagement of the participants, including myself.

Although I didn’t solve all their problems on the spot, I asked the right questions and helped them plan experiments to address their critical challenges. I left that session feeling like I had made a meaningful difference—a feeling that structured presentations rarely offer.

If your organization could benefit from an open-format session like this, where genuine problem-solving takes precedence over presentation slides, I’d love to help. Please visit the Contact Page to schedule a session.
